Excerpt. This is not me, btw. I'm yet to fall in love.
----------------------------------------x-----------------------------------------
What is it about him?

What is it, that a mere glance of him, impulsively brings a smile on my face, making everything look brighter? The air seems clearer, the grass looks greener, the sky seems bluer...even frowns look happier, with him around.
What is it, that a mere smile from him, sets my heart pounding, a blush rising, butterflies forming in my stomach, eager anticipation on my face coupled with a desire to see him smiling forever?
What is it, that the slightest touch, make my senses lose all contact with my brain, focusing each and every particle of my being on that slight touch?
What is it, about the sound of voice, that seems music to my ears, a music which surpasses everything that has ever been composed before and I could listen to it forever?

What is it, that his mere existence seemed like magic, that someone so good, so perfect was even THERE was a magic beyond all...
What is it, that without him, life would cease to be just that, and everyone and everything that I ever valued before in this world would lose its meaning?

What is it about him?

It's these books and movies that are to be blamed for us being such hopeless romantics!!

(I've cropped out a bit for my status. :P )

I couldn't agree more! We're hopeless. *sigh*

Hi Srishti!

Is it written by you? Is it an excerpt from something?

It'd be considered almost mannerless to try to answer the question you ask as the whole world would have you believe that to fall in love you require amoeba's intellect (BTW, is amoeba your favorite animal? ;) ). But what I've discovered, in whatever limited experience I've had, is that people superimpose qualities that they crave onto someone, and that causes the excitement. But how is that someone chosen? Usually because, the one we fall in love with would have one or a few of those qualities. Like if you'd want your prospective partner to have a good nose and also be generous, then if you find someone with a good nose, you'll automatically make yourself believe that he must also be generous. Your self-deception will reveal itself only if he departs from that ideal too early and too starkly, if not, you'll keep on suffering a certain kind of incompleteness with him. And unfortunately since nose is such a visible organ, you won't find it possible to deceive yourself into believing a generous person's ugly nose to be a beautiful one :)

But what all I've described up till now is what I call infatuation. According to me, true love involves first getting to know a person and then liking them for what we know them to be. This sounds unexciting (especially, as compared to 'love at first sight') but it actually is not! This way without your knowing you'll change the attributes of your original aspiration as against the perception of one you have. And you'll find that beautiful :)

And since, love is not a thing to be dissected, I'll let stop here, let you experience it, and then wait for you to come and tell me how wrong I was. :)

All the best!

Take care.

Hi!
Welcome to my blog!

It is written by me. By now, you must have noticed that whatever I write is amateur, inexperienced and would rank very low on the blog-o-sphere. But I am learnig :)

You are very fond of analyzing every single sentence to the core, aren't you?
I'm not as good as you, obviously, but I'll try to decode your comment :D

I agree with you on the 'good nose and being generous theory'.
And I also agree with your idea of true love.
But I, sir, am a hopeless romantic and an iron-clad believer in love.
Love is beyond dissection. I doubt anyone can ever understand love, without actually feeling it. Nor can anyone understand its magnitude, unless they've been in love.
Its a crazy little thing :)

Well,

In that case, it's very well written! And more important, makes your disclaimer at the beginning invite suspicion, rather very tempting to disbelieve! :p But never mind!

Yes, I've experienced both infatuation and love. Well, the nose and generosity-thing was a very simple example, actually things are much more complex!

Yes, I love analyzing things as against dissecting, which destroys the thing you dissect. Just joking, never mind, again!

I honestly like that you've not given into peer pressure and write in elegant English.

You write well, and with greater experience (which actually is nothing but what learn through the situations you're in and people you're with by analyzing(!!) them) ;) you'll write much better.

Thank you so much! That means a lot!
And I did write it :P

Thanks again :)

Suspicion was about your claim of not having fallen in love, and yet writing so beautifully!

Sorry, if you felt I was raising doubt on your ability to write. I should've been more clear.
