Commercials on TV are of all kinds. Some are funny, some are meaningless, and some make you search, look for the meaning. But...very rarely does a commercial stay with you, long after you switch off the TV (yeah I know, TV Philosophy! :P). The commercial I'm going to be writing about is not anything genius. There have been far better commercials in the TV World. But...
I think almost everyone must have seen the Airtel ad. Here's what happens:
Small Saif meets Small Girl. He wants to be friends, so he gives her a friendship butterfly locket. She accepts it. They become friends. But suddenly, Small Saif has to leave the town forever, for some unknown reason.
Many years later.
Small Saif is now big. He is lying on the bed, gazing at the photograph of Small Girl, who must've grown up now too (henceforth referred to as the Butterfly girl). He decides to go back and look for her. Woh fira yahaan wahaan, but couldn't find her. He passes by some kind of protest, and notices a girl in pink shirt. She gestures him to move forward. He does. Now home, or Hotel, whatever, he switches on the TV. On the news is the same protest and the girl in Pink Shirt. But the picture quality of Airtel Digital TV is so good, that he notices a butterfly necklace around the Pink Shirt Girl's neck. Its the Butterfly Girl! His when-I-was-a-Boy best friend! He rushes there immediately.
He reaches. He's about to go and talk to her when SUDDENLY, suddenly...Kareena passes by. Apparently, Saif's never seen a girl THAT pretty, because he can't keep his eyes off her. Now there are two things he can do: Revert back to his original plan- reunite with the Butterfly Girl OR...go and talk to Kareena. And it BROKE my heart to see that he chose Kareena.
Butterfly girl just shakes her head.
But, why, WHY in the world would he choose Kareena over his long lost best friend? Why? Is that how guys are? Ready to ignore a lifetime of friendship for a Kareena they've never seen before? Unless he was psychic and suddenly got a vision that he would marry her in the future, I can think of no valid reason backing his action. Do guys get distracted THAT easily? He came with the purpose of finding his friend. He found her, but chose to forget her just because he saw Kareena. Well done, Saif. Kareena is SO lucky.
I don't know why, but it made me incredibly sad.

Those Things He Does.
He does it.
But what was the cause? The smile? The eyes? The expression?
All of them.
It hits me suddenly.
Recall. Say you're a book-lover, and you walk into a bookstore. You're in your favourite part of the store, the shelf you love the most. You look at it. Your see it lined with books you love the most in the world. You look at their jazzy covers, their catchy titles. You smile. Involuntarily, widening your eyes for a better view.
Then, you walk into Archies or Hallmark. You see an array of objects, all colourful, glittering and gleaming. The colours dance in front of your eyes, inviting. You stare at them and you almost shield your eyes, narrowing them, lest the colours hurt them.
Its like that. Only both. I don't know whether to narrow or widen. I want to look at him, stare at him, to absorb...but I'm afraid. Afraid that the beauty would be so powerful, that it might damage them. My eyes.
When do you get goosebumps? When you're shivering, either from the cold or fear. But there is another kind of goosebumps. The wrong-place, wrong-time kind. The what-are-you-doing-here-kind.
When the temperature is very high. When its so hot, that you can't feel the sweat. Its a part of you already. Its hot beyond a limit. And the goosebumps come. They're not supposed to be here, but they are. And it feels good. The goosebumps make you giddy. You want to laugh.
There are goosebumps on your arm because of the heat.
Weird?
Thats how it is. Its not supposed to be like it is. Its unexpected, uncalled for. Against the laws. Wrong place, wrong time. Wrong. But it feels good. Its not supposed to happen, but when it does, you don't care anymore.
Those Things He Does.

Excerpt. This is not me, btw. I'm yet to fall in love.

What is it about him?
What is it, that a mere glance of him, impulsively brings a smile on my face, making everything look brighter? The air seems clearer, the grass looks greener, the sky seems bluer...even frowns look happier, with him around.
What is it, that a mere smile from him, sets my heart pounding, a blush rising, butterflies forming in my stomach, eager anticipation on my face coupled with a desire to see him smiling forever?
What is it, that the slightest touch, make my senses lose all contact with my brain, focusing each and every particle of my being on that slight touch?
What is it, about the sound of voice, that seems music to my ears, a music which surpasses everything that has ever been composed before and I could listen to it forever?
What is it, that his mere existence seemed like magic, that someone so good, so perfect was even THERE was a magic beyond all...
What is it, that without him, life would cease to be just that, and everyone and everything that I ever valued before in this world would lose its meaning?
What is it about him?
My Friend Alisha :)
Sometimes, even I can't find myself in this photo.
Oh wait...there I am! And there! Spot me :D
I think I can write a whole book on Alisha. There's so much to her.
But anybody who knows Alisha will first use the adjective 'nice' for her. The real nice.
She's so nice, so kind that it makes you feel : Why am I not like her? I remember, in our new class, there was a boy, who had a sort of mental problem. Not very severe, but enough to make him anti-social. He didn't talk to anyone in class and kept to himself. He knew about nobody, nobody knew about him. Early in 9th, Alisha once said to me "I feel so bad for Vishal. He's so lonely all the time". And I hadn't even noticed him yet! How shallow that made me feel.
I know she wouldn't agree, but whenever you talk to her, you get this inferiority complex. Not because she's so pretty, which is a valid reason too. But because she thinks for everyone. She feels for everyone, which has become quite uncommon in this self-obsessed world. If you're sad, she'll be sad with you. When you're happy, she'll be happy for you. When you're crying, she'll cry with you. And its not pretence. Its all genuine :)
But its not like she's a big bag of Mother Teresa! On no, she can be naughty too. Sometimes, its so much fun to be with her. I remember that in French classes, we-the french students, had to go and study in a different classroom. We were just 10. So we used to sit in the middle wing, in 6th or 7th. And the kids in those classes used to get loads of packets of chips and kept those in their desks. She used to eat all their Chips and FunFlips and whatever, and once she even put a note in their lunch boxes which said "Sorry ki humne tumhaara khaana kha liya, magar hum 100 saal se bhooke the" ! Its a different matter that she left money in place of those. But its French naa, she had to eat something!
Another thing which always amazed me about her was the amount of passion with which she loved the person she loved. In spite of the fact that he broke her heart repeatedly, she loved him . She gave all she could to that relationship, but unfortunately, it didn't work out. Everyone loved her- except the one whom she loved.
And the way she loved her dog! He was her best friend, Dollar , whom she liked to call Dollu , Dolly, Dolchu and whatnot :) He misses you too, Lishu.
She is one of my closest friends, and will remain so. Forever.
But here comes the twist in the tale.
On the night of 20th June 2009, Alisha with her family, moved to Maryland, USA leaving behind all she had ever known. The little world she had created in fourteen years, she had to leave. And start all over again. It was time for goodbyes.
You will be missed lisha, very much :')

Love or Mortality?
Now obviously, Winnie couldn't be with Jesse while she's still a mortal, because as she ages, Jesse would stay frozen as he is.
So she debates whether to have water from that spring. To give up her mortality at the cost of her love or give up her love at the cost of mortality.
Tough one, huh?
It actually is. I put myself in her situation and found it really hard to choose between love and mortality. Now normal (mortal) and lucky (love-wise) people actually have both. Their 'someone special' and the ability to die. But supposing you didnt, Suppose that by some twist of fate (in love with a vampire?) you HAVE to choose one.
Which one would you choose?
Now me, I am a die-hard believer of love and a HOPELESS romantic. But I also believe that living forever would really, truly suck.
What would I do? No idea.
You can't just choose love in the spur of a movement. I know its a very noble thing to do and the test of true love and all, but its a very hard decision.
Another thing I'd like to point out here.
Take the case of Twilight. When Bella learns that Edward is a vampire and to continue their realtionship, Bella'll have to be a vampire ergo immortal, she instantly agrees to be a vampire.
But that is not normal human reaction! I mean, I adore the Twilight Series and all, but this particular point was difficult to believe. No matter how intense and serious a relationship is, you just wont give up your mortality in a second.
I'm not saying she shouldn't have become a vampire. I'm just saying, she should have taken out the pros and cons and at least considered the alternative and think about the consequences.
But she was all "Bite me".
Its not Romeo and Juliet where the only obstacle was family enimity, 'cuz I'm all for eloping. Its a question of your mortality.
Currently though, I still dont have the answer as to what I would choose. But maybe, later in life when I'm actually in love and have a 'muse' (!), I'd be able to answer that. Just maybe :)
All my love,
Srishti
The Anonymous poem
This is a poem I found in HT Classifeds on Valentine's Day. I think its really beautiful and reaches out to your heart. Here:
When you ask me why I love you,
I dont know what to say.
I love every part of you,
in every single way.
But if you want specifics,
I'll try to meet your wish.
And do my very, very best
to make a simple list.
I love you for your arms,
that hold me every night.
I love you for your kisses,
sometimes strong and sometimes light.
I love you for your patience,
that never seems to end.
I love you for the fact,
that I can call you a friend.
I love you for your lips,
that always seem to smile.
When you look upon my face,
for just a little while.
I love you for your eyes,
that see deep within my soul.
I love you for your ability,
to always make me whole.
I love you for your honesty,
I know you'll never lie.
I love you for your passion,
so much it makes me cry.
I love you for your quirkiness,
and the little jokes you tell.
I love this and a million other things as well.
You see how hard it is ,
to narrow it all down.
There are far too many reasons,
but one thing I have found...
I love you for your brains,
but I love your body too.
In short I love every single thing,
that has to do with you!
I think this is an AMAZING poem and I wish the person all the very best who wrote this poem and hope he/she have a full and happy realtionship with the person to whom the poem's dedicated :)
